Nearly 15 British actors were casted in the 2001 hit
Movies transcend boundaries and therefore, Indian films have always had foreign actors casted in various roles and vice versa. When it comes to numbers, one Hindi film tops the chart for casting the greatest number of British roles in it.
Directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, Lagaan was film with a story based in pre-independence era.
Therefore, the film needed multiple British actors in major roles – 15 to be precise.
The most important roles went to Rachel Shelley (Elizabeth) and Paul Blackthorne (Captain Russel).
The actors were taught Hindi for six months by a Hindi tutor in London.
