The object has been in space for nearly five decades
Humans have ventured into space on multiple occasions, hoping to find extraterrestrial life forms. However, to date, the world has no confirmation if any space agency has come across an extraterrestrial life form despite numerous reports of UFO sightings.
On paper, efforts are still being made as the Voyager I continues to travel in interstellar space for nearly five decades.
The Voyager I is a spacecraft belonging to NASA that was launched from Earth in 1997.
At present, the Voyager I is 24.4 billion kilometres away – the farthest a humanmade object has gone into space.
Given the distance between Voyager I and Earth, it takes 23 hours to receive messages and data from Voyager I.
The Voyager I carries a gold-plated audio-visual disc that contains recordings of Earth, its people, life on Earth, music, various languages and other data from Earth.
The disc carries the data so that in case an extraterrestrial life form intercepts Voyager I, there’s a hope of them decoding and analysing the data. If it ever happens, Earth may be able to establish contact with aliens.
