Unsung Heroes of Indian History We Must Know About (Part II)

Continuing from the first of the story, here are a few more unsung heroes of Indian history we must know about. 

Aurobindo Ghose 

Sri Aurobindo was an Indian freedom fighter and he emphasized on various subjects like being self-dependent, boycotting foreign things, and the importance of education.  

AurobindoGhose had strong nationalist feelings from his childhood and he utilized he wrote nationalist poems and texts to rouse and motivate the general public against the British reign. He started a publication titled ‘BandeMataram,’ through which he shared his thoughts among the people. He secretly helped in many underground revolutionary activities while openly supporting non-co-operation.

Ram Prasad Bismil 

Ram Prasad Bismil was a brave revolutionary who was the part of famous Kakori rail dacoity conspiracy with other revolutionaries like Chandrashekhar Azad and Ashfaqullah Khan.

Along with being a revolutionary, Ram Prasad Bismil was also a poet-writer and the poem “Sarfaroshi Ki Tamanna”.Despite being a Hindu, he used the title Bismil in his name to show Hindu-Muslim unity. He participated aggressively in various armed activities against the British and was given a death sentence in the Kakori case and was executed at the young age of mere thirty.

Birsa Munda 

Birsa Munda was from the present state of Jharkhand and an Indian revolutionary who belonged to the Munda tribe. During his short span of life, he fought against British rule till his last breath.

Birsa Munda is a famous tribal freedom fighter who is famous for rebelling against British rule and motivating the tribal people of his area to join him. He strongly fought against the British tyranny of the tribal people. He was soon caught by the British and put in jail where he died at the mere age of twenty-five but he inspired generations to fight for their rights. Even after his death, his legacy lived on and inspired tribal people to demand their rights and pressurized the British to bring new laws to protect the lands of the tribal communities.
