He played a major part as a leader Rampa Rebellion/Manyam Rebellion of 1922, which was a response to the 1882 Madras Forest Act, which effectually constrained the free movement of Adivasis in their forest habitats and prohibited them from carrying out a traditional form of agriculture known as podu (shifting cultivation). It was the year 1924, when Alluri Sitaram Raju was captured and executed which resulted at the end of the rebellion.

LachitBorphukan

LachitBorphukan was the commander-in-chief of the Ahom Kingdom in Assam who fought against the Mughals and stopped them from entering Assam by defeating them.

During the reign of Aurungzeb, the Mughal Empire was at its peak by controlling most parts of the country but they were never able to win the north-east part of India and their defeat at the battle of Saraighat is the main reason for it. Aurangzeb sent a large army under the leadership of Rajput commander Ram Singh to win the northeast part of India. During that time, Ahom Kingdom was there in Assam and they fought against the Mughals under the command of LachitBorphukan who was the commander-in-chief of the Ahom army. They came face to face in the ‘Battle of Saraighat’ where the much lesser Ahom army defeated the mighty Mughal army and after that, the Mughals never dared to return back.
