“We learn geology the morning after the earthquake” - by Ralph Waldo Emerson.
Now the question is what is called geology? Well it is basically the science that examines different types of changes taking place in the kingdom of nature. It finds out the reason behind these changes as well. There are plenty of sites in the world where we are able to see such diversity in geology and these are called geological wonders. But in this article we’ll only focus on some specific locations in India where diversified topography and abundance of natural resources have been observed. From the mountains of Himalaya to the land of the deep down sea, many geological wonders of India simply carry the country’s lengthy geological history which will be discussed in the following points -
The great Gandikota, Grand Canyon of India
When we talk about geological wonders, the first thing that comes to our mind is Gandikota in Andhra Pradesh. The Pennar River flows through this region and creates a 3 mile long narrow valley that is 300 feet deep. But why is it called the Grand Canyon? Because it has a huge resemblance with the Great Grand Canyon of the USA. Its red sandstone structure and the breathtaking view of the river make it an important geological wonder of India.
Meghalayan living root bridges
“The house of the clouds” or the living root bridges are among the several distinctive natural wonders situated in India. The tribal people named Khasi and Jaintia make these natural bridges with the help of the strong roots of Ficus elastica. These tribal people make the roots grow in such a particular way so that they can become a proper bridge to hold the weight of multiple people at once.
The magnificent scenario of the marble rock
Visiting the marvelous marble rock will no doubt be an unforgettable experience. Situated in Madhya Pradesh, this place is sculpted by the river Narmada. On both sides of the river, 100 feet tall white marble rock can be seen to give you an aesthetic view. You can enjoy this mind blowing scenery through a boat trip to the river.
Not only these, there are more geological wonders including the mountain ranges of Himalaya, the Ganges River, Sunderbans and so on. So this year, plan your trip to nature and find the mental and spiritual solace amongst them.
