Mumbai-based Entod Pharmaceuticals’s ‘PresVu’ eye drops received suspension notice for misleading marketing campaign.

The recent focus is on ‘PresVu’ eye drops that claimed various benefits including relief from presbyopia which is an age-related farsightedness. The concerns were raised since the firm promoted it as “first eye drop in India designed to reduce the need for reading glasses.”

The Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) has issued a suspension quoting “…considering the public interest, the permission dated 20.08.2024 issued to manufacture and market of Pilocarpine Hydrochloride Ophthalmic Solution USP 1.25% is hereby suspended till further order under the provisions of rule 84 of the New Drugs and Clinical Trials Rules, 2019, of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940”. Till now, there hasn't been any scientifically proved report that the pilocarpine hydrocholoride ophthalmic solution can reduce the need for reading glasses.
