Five Places on Earth Where Sun Never Sets

Around some 80-90 years, there was a famous saying that “The Sun Never Sets in British Empire”. It’s mainly because the British ruled so many parts of the world that if the sun sets in a country the British Ruled,  in another country there will be a sun rising. But it doesn’t hold back true anymore because the time of colonialism is over. But there are a few countries in the world sun does not go down for more than 70 days literally and we can say that the sun mostly never sets in these countries. In this article, we have curated a list of five such countries.

Norway 

It’s also called the “Land of the Midnight Sun” because in Norway, for a period of 76 days there is no sunset

Norway is a European country located in the Arctic Circle. Norway is also called ‘The Land of Midnight Sun’ because here the sun does not set down for 76 days. There is a place called Svalbard, Norway where the sun does not sets down continuously from April 10 to August 23, imagine living in a place where you there won’t be able to experience the night for around three months. Sounds weird, but people there are adapted to this and have mended their lifestyle accordingly.

Iceland

Iceland is one of the most beautiful countries in the world and from May through July gets bright sunlight

Iceland is the biggest island in terms of area after Great Britain in Europe. One more amazing fact about this country is that there are no mosquitoes in Iceland, lucky people we must say. Iceland is a very sparsely populated country and the citizens of Ice land experience quite a strange phenomenon. During the months of summer, the sun sets there at midnight! Sounds quite crazy but there is more to it. In July the sun never sets at all. Iceland is also famous for its breathtaking northern lights and tourists from across the world visit here to experience this beautiful natural phenomenon.

Sweden

 In Sweden, constant sunshine may occur for up to six months in a year and that’s why it made it into the list.

Sweden is a European country and it’s famous for its beauty but apart from its beauty, there is one more interesting thing that makes it a special country. Here during the months of May to August continuous sunshine may take place for up to six months in a year. The people of Sweden and the tourists who visit here during this time mostly keep them occupied by doing activities like fishing, playing golf, skiing, and experiencing the northern lights.

Finland

In Finland during the summers, a big part of it never experiences sunset for continuously 73 days. 

 Finland is a country where during the n winters, no sunlight can be seen in some regions of the country and during the summers most of the country constantly experience no sunset at all for 73 days. Because of these reasons, people in Finland sleep more during the winter because there is no sunlight and less in summer, due to the continual sunlight.

Alaska

Alaska is not exactly a country but is one of the 50 states of the U.S.A and the sun does not set here during the summers

Alaska is a state situated in the Western United States on the northwest boundary of North America and is a semi-exclave of the U.S.A. In Alaska, the sun does not set from late May to late July. Alaska is a quite beautiful and scenic place but it becomes very harsh in the winters. Alaska is famous for its huge glaciers and snow-capped mountains; where people go hiking or sightseeing.
