Consistency is what separates a good player from a great player
The 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) had no shortage of runs, given that the tournament became a batters’ paradise. Over 50 times throughout the season, teams scored over 200 runs, which means players on the individual front rose to the occasion and let their willows do the talking. Among many, some players consistently terrorised the opposition bowling line-up with half-centuries.
In this sports year ender article, let us look at those players who consistently scored half-centuries and racked up the numbers.
Virat Kohli
Age does not affect Virat Kohli, who scored eight half-centuries in 2025 for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. In 15 matches, Kohli scored 657 runs, and fortunately, his efforts did not go in vain as Bengaluru finally lifted its maiden IPL trophy.

After Kohli, Mitchell Marsh of Lucknow Super Giants is second on the list for hitting six half-centuries in 13 matches. Marsh made 627 runs throughout the season.
Below Marsh sits Rajasthan Royals’ Yashasvi Jaiswal, who also scored six half-centuries but played 14 matches and scored 559 runs.
Sai Sudharsan was brilliant throughout the season, hitting six half-centuries in 15 matches. Sudharsan also scored a century for the Gujarat Titans, totalling 759 runs.
Shubman Gill is another player who scored six half-centuries in 15 matches and 650 runs throughout the season.

Moving on to five half-centuries, Jos Buttler scored five in 14 matches, but overall, in this list, he is in seventh position. The eighth position goes to Aiden Markram, who also made five half-centuries in 13 matches, with 445 runs coming off his willow. The ninth and tenth players on this list with five half-centuries are Nicholas Pooran and Suryakumar Yadav, who scored 524 runs and 717 runs, respectively.

For the record, David Warner still holds the record for the most half-centuries in IPL history, with 9. We certainly expect next season that at least one player will hit double digits and redefine the meaning of consistency.
