T20 WC 2026: Top Zimbabwean Players Who Deserve a Shoutout Ahead of the Game vs. India

Zimbabwe topped its group by keeping Sri Lanka and Australia at bay and is set to meet the West Indies and India in the Super 8 stage

Considered a minnow in the world of cricket, Zimbabwe has pulled a rabbit out of the hat in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup by topping the group that comprised Sri Lanka and Australia. While everybody predicted that Sri Lanka and Australia would reach the Super 8 stage, Zimbabwe entered the conversation, while Sri Lanka settled for second place and Australia crashed out early.

Up next, Zimbabwe is set to meet the West Indies and India in the Super 8, which is an equally challenging group, but all the players in the team are pumped for some more action.

Ahead of the game versus India, here are the top Zimbabwe players from the ongoing tournament who deserve a special shoutout.

Brian Bennett

In a tournament where the best players are expected to grab headlines, Zimbabwe’s lesser-known 22-year-old Brian Bennett is at the centre for his 175 runs in three innings. Bennett has been phenomenal against the likes of Sri Lanka and New Zealand as an opener, not only scoring crucial runs but also allowing other players in his team to express themselves without worrying about their wickets. Against India, Bennett could pose a threat.

Blessing Muzarabani

Blessing Muzarabani has truly been a blessing for his side, racking up wickets at ease with his fine bowling capabilities. In three matches and 12 overs played so far, Muzarabani has grabbed nine wickets and is standing alongside the likes of more famous names such as Marco Jensen and Varun Chakaravarthy. Blessing has also managed to keep his economy below six, which is highly impressive in a fast-paced format like T20.

Brad Evans

28-year-old Brad Evans is another Zimbabwean player who has outdone himself in the tournament. The all-rounder so far in the tournament has picked eight wickets in three matches while registering an economy of 7.35. Any economy below 8 in T20I looks excellent on paper, and if Evans and Muzarabani play their respective roles adequately against India, the Men in Blue could be in trouble.

Ryan Burl

Last but not least, Ryan Burl also deserves attention for his cameos with the bat as well as the ball. Against Australia and Sri Lanka, Burl scored 35 and 23 runs, respectively. He also managed one wicket each against both the better squads. On the day when it will matter most, Burl could change the tide in Zimbabwe’s favour against India.

In short, despite being nowhere close to India in terms of quality, the Men in Blue, after their heartbreaking loss to South Africa, should not take Zimbabwe. The team led by Sikandar Raza is on a mission to prove their mettle, and one slip could throw India out of the World Cup.
