In the match against PAK, Yadav left a catch, because of which he was scolded by Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav

The Sunday clash, which was called epic by many, turned out to be a bland and boring encounter between India and PAK. As Suryakumar Yadav said last year, there is no rivalry between India and Pakistan at present, and his words proved correct again as the Men in Blue thrashed the Green Team left, right, and centre, winning the game.

However, despite the easy cruise, one moment created tension in the Indian camp when Kuldeep Yadav, towards the end of the game, missed a catch from Shaheen Afridi’s bat. Moments later, India won the game, but Kuldeep Yadav was seen getting scolded by Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav, who were not happy with a miss which should’ve been an easy catch.

For the record, this is not the first time Kuldeep Yadav has been scolded on camera. He is one of those jolly figures in the Indian camp who do silly things and receive flak from other players.

Last year, during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, in the second ball of the 41st over versus New Zealand, Michael Bracewell stole a quick single which should’ve been an out. Unfortunately, Kuldeep Yadav had failed to reposition himself and did not reach behind the stump on time. This incident angered Rohit Sharma, who lashed out at Yadav, saying, “Stumps ke peeche kyu nahi aata hai? (Why don't you get behind the stumps?)”

The Champions Trophy 2025 also witnessed another misjudgement by Kuldeep Yadav against Australia. Steve Smith had taken a single off Kuldeep Yadav’s delivery, but the ball was quickly collected by Virat Kohli, who threw it hard at Kuldeep, and there was an opportunity for a run-out. However, Yadav blatantly left the ball, and it was caught by Rohit Sharma at the cover. Both Sharma and Kohli were visibly angry with Yadav.

This incident was rather a funny one than a serious matter.  In the third and final ODI in Visakhapatnam, Kuldeep Yadav was seen appealing excessively for DRS. To this, all Indian players burst out laughing on the field, and KL Rahul had to calm Yadav down. In the post-match interview, Yadav stated, “Obviously, with DRS, I am someone who is very bad. And he (Rohit) keeps pulling my leg. Whenever I hit the pads, I feel there is a wicket.”

The ICC Champions 2025 had several viral moments, but the best one belonged to Kuldeep Yadav. After winning the final, Yadav went up to the podium to collect his medal and wear the white blazer. However, he struggled to wear it, whereas the next person in line, Rohit Sharma, gave him a death stare, which became funny material on social media platforms.
