Considered one of the greatest bowlers of this generation, Bumrah could be India’s match-winner in more than one game

Moving on to his T20 international career, Jasprit Bumrah has 87 matches under his belt, having picked 107 wickets. His economy on the global stage stands at 6.54, with a best figure of 3.7. Unfortunately, on the global platform, he has no four-wicket, five-wicket, or 10-wicket haul. However, with matches against the USA and Namibia in the group stage, we do expect him to tick one of the boxes.

Bumrah’s last major tournament was the Asia Cup 2025, which was played in the T20I format. While India lifted the trophy, for Bumrah, the tournament wasn’t a memorable one given he picked only seven wickets in five matches. Compared to him, Kuldeep Yadav picked 17 wickets in seven draws, drawing a stark difference in individual performances.

Going back to 2024, the year India won its second T20 World Cup trophy, Bumrah proved to be a valuable member of the squad. He finished as the third-highest wicket-taker of the tournament with 15 wickets in eight matches. For India, he was the second-highest wicket-taker behind Arshdeep Singh, who grabbed 17 wickets in eight matches.

Bumrah’s recent run

In India’s most recently concluded T20I series versus New Zealand, Bumrah took only four wickets in four matches, which could be labelled decent at best. Even his economy was a whopping high, registering 9.46, which was more than usual.

In the days to come, Bumrah must find ways to bring his best because if not, India could end up in a tricky position, and pressure will fall on other bowlers to turn the tide in India’s favour.
