Ranveer Singh turns 39 today!

Dark phases are temporary, but talent is permanent! Ranveer Singh is supremely talented, and there can't be any arguing about that. The actor's recent films (except 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani') may not have performed that well at the box office. And several of his highly ambitious projects (such as 'Don 3', 'Shaktimaan', and 'Rakshas') have been shelved, leading to a significant decline in his brand value. However, we are sure that he will soon rise above all the adversities, making a solid comeback and leaving everyone in awe.

Born on July 6, 1985, Ranveer Singh made his acting debut in 2010 with Yash Raj Films' romantic comedy 'Band Baaja Baaraat'. With his brilliant performance in the film, he became an overnight sensation and made everyone believe that he’s here to stay. He went on to establish himself as an A-list star with films like 'Lootera', 'Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela', 'Bajirao Mastani', 'Padmaavat', 'Simmba', and 'Gully Boy' among others. Over the years, he has received several awards, including five Filmfare Awards.

"... pitch-perfect in the role of the uncouth but good-hearted small-town slacker," wrote critic Anupama Chopra about Singh's performance in 'Band Baaja Baaraat'.

The actor turns 39 today. On this occasion, we share an interesting fact about him that you probably didn't know.

Ranveer Singh Was The First Choice For 'Sanju'

Rajkumar Hirani's 2018 film, 'Sanju', emerged as the highest-grossing Hindi film of the year and earned seven nominations at the 64th Filmfare Awards. Ranbir Kapoor played the title role in the film and nailed it completely. It's the second highest-grossing film in his career, behind 'Animal'.

Ranbir Kapoor in and as ‘Sanju’

Now, while we can't imagine anyone else as the lead in 'Sanju', Ranbir Kapoor wasn't the first choice of producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra for the role. However, Rajkumar Hirani was quite adamant about Kapoor and hence convinced Chopra about the same.

As Chopra later shared in an interview, "When he (director Rajkumar Hirani) told me about Ranbir, I wasn’t happy at all. I thought someone else, like Ranveer Singh, could play this role much better. I thought Ranveer had the flamboyance, the emotional depth as well, and the ability to change himself completely to play Sanjay Dutt. But Raju was adamant that Ranbir would be perfect. And when we started shooting and Ranbir became Sanjay Dutt, I had to kind of eat my words...”

When Ranbir Kapoor Spoke About The Topic

Speaking about Ranveer Singh being the first choice of Chopra for 'Sanju', Ranbir Kapoor later said in an interview, "I don’t know about his regrets and anything of that kind. But I am really happy that it came into my life. And it came into my life when I was really in need of inspiration. You know, it’s a luxury that every actor finds inspiration in every film they do. This came with that. So, I am very happy that it came into my life."
