It's always a pleasure watching Dutt on the screen. But do you know he is also a gifted singer and has lent his vocals to several hit songs? Yes, you read that right! Today, on the occasion of his 65th birthday, let's explore his singing career in this article.

Sanjay Dutt - The Singer

Sanjay Dutt, the singer, is not as celebrated as the actor. And that's why many of his fans aren't even aware of his singing talents. He made his debut as a playback singer back in 1999 with 'Khoobsurat', and went on to sing several other songs along the way. Let's have a look at some of the best ones among them.

Aye Shivani - Khoobsurat

'Khoobsurat' was released in 1999, and emerged as a major commercial success. Sanjay Dutt and Urmila Matondkar's chemistry in the romantic comedy hit the bull's eye effortlessly, receiving enormous praise from critics and audiences alike. However, what came as a surprise (a good one though) for all was Dutt's playback singing debut with it.

In 'Khoobsurat', Dutt played a small conman with a good heart

He, along wiith Shraddha Pandit, sang onee song in 'Khoobsurat', titled "Aye Shivani". The lyrics were written by Sanjay Chhel, while the tune was composed by Jatin–Lalit. And it became a massive success (even more than the film) upon its release!

M Bole To - Munna Bhai M.B.B.S.

'Munna Bhai M.B.B.S.' came at a time when Sanjay Dutt was experiencing a downfall in his career. The satirical comedy-drama film, helmed by debutant Rajkumar Hirani, ended that dry spell, catapulting him to the top league all over again. The actor's portrayal of Munna Bhai became a rage among the youth and is still considered the most iconic character in his career.

Upon the film's theatrical release, its soundtrack also became immensely popular. Especially, the song 'M Bole To", sung by Dutt alongside Vinod Rathod, Prachi, and Priya Mayekar, stood out and how! Besides, he also sang the song "Apun Jaise Tapori" along with Vinod Rathod and Arshad Warsi.

Samjho Ho Hi Gaya - Lage Raho Munna Bhai

The second installment in the 'Munna Bhai' franchise, 'Lage Raho Munna Bhai' emerged as yet another success, with its soundtrack receiving loads of love from every corner of the nation. Sanjay Dutt sang one song in the film, titled "Samjho Ho Hi Gaya", along with Arshad Warsi and Vinod Rathod. Penned by Swanand Kirkire and composed by Shantanu Moitra, the song became a chartbuster and showcased the singing mettle of Dutt.

It's worth noting that all the songs in 'Lage Raho Munna Bhai' were hits among fans. The title track, sung by Vinod Rathod, was the biggest hit of the year. Besides, the list also includes "Aane Chaar Aane", "Pal Pal... Har Pal", and "Bande Mein Tha Dum... Vande Mataram".

These are some of the best songs by Sanjay Dutt. Apart from these, there are "Chal Mere Bhai" (Chal Mere Bhai), "Chaha Tha Tumhe" (Hathyar), "Tez Dhaar" (Musafir), and "Chhod Na Re" (Kaante) among others.
