The Indian Premier League is merely two weeks away, and, like every year, this edition is also expected to feature terrific performances from a plethora of players who will topple multiple records. However, new records don’t mean we forget the present record holders, the ones who uplifted the standard of IPL with years of hard work and consistent performances.
In the following paragraphs, check who is leading the run scorer, wicket taker and other charts.

Made his debut in 2008, run-machine Virat Kohli leads the top run scorer table with 8,661 runs and counting. So far, Kohli has played 267 IPL matches and is set to appear in the 2026 edition, which will help him extend his lead. Kohli’s record is likely to remain intact for years, given that the only player close to him is Rohit Sharma with 7,046. Other veterans of the game are miles away in terms of runs scored, and youngsters are barely scratching the surface of their potential in comparison to Kohli's impressive record.
Top wicket taker

Yuzvendra Chahal leads the top wicket-taker table with 221 wickets in 174 matches while representing Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Rajasthan Royals. The Kings have retained Chahal, but his health issues may prevent him from playing, potentially hindering his ability to extend his lead. Chahal’s record is also under threat from Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who is second in the table with 198 runs.
Maximum sixes and fours
When it comes to hitting, former West Indies player Chris Gayle still holds the record despite no longer playing the tournament. Between 2009 and 2021, Gayle hit 357 sixes, and at the moment, Rohit Sharma is the closest to Gayle with 302 sixes.

Moving on to maximum fours hit in the tourney, Virat Kohli leads the table with 771 fours scored since 2008. Rohit Sharma is tailing him with 640 fours, but realistically, Kohli’s record is expected to be intact for at least another five seasons.
Maximum dismissals

This one shouldn’t surprise anyone because when it comes to dismissals from behind the wicket, there’s only one boss, and his name is Mahendra Singh Dhoni. India’s former skipper has 201 dismissals since 2008, and the 44-year-old has no intention of quitting the IPL, so he is likely to extend his numbers.
Most ducks
Not a record one would want read aloud, but Glenn Maxwell owns this embarrassing feat. Maxwell has recorded 19 instances of going home without scoring, while Rohit Sharma is closely following with 18 ducks. If Sharma goes out without a single run in this edition a few times, he will earn this embarrassing record.
Fastest century
Chris Gayle also holds the record for hitting the fastest century, i.e., 100 runs in 30 balls against Pune Warriors in 2013 while batting for Bengaluru.
Youngest century
Last but not least, Vaibhav Suryavanshi is the youngest player to score an IPL century at 14 years and 32 days. He scored 101 off 38 balls for the Rajasthan Royals against the Gujarat Titans in 2025.
