IPL 2026: KKR vs. SRH – Head-to-Head Records, Last Clash, Personal Milestone on the Cards & More

KKR has an upper hand over SRH, but going by the team’s current plight, the home fans at Eden Gardens should be ready for an upset

On the evening of April 2, two teams, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), will clash in their respective second matches of the tournament. Given that both sides did not win their season openers, the two teams will be eager for two points, and we therefore expect a cracking display of bowling, batting and fielding.

Ahead of the match, let us recall the history between the two sides, followed by personal milestones on the cards and more interesting angles about the game.

Head-to-head

KKR and SRH have played 30 matches against each other, with 20 games in KKR’s favour, whereas only 10 games were won by SRH. In the last five meetings, KKR has won four, and SRH has won one, including KKR's Qualifier 1 win over SRH and the 2024 final. However, last season, SRH won by a massive margin of 110 runs in May. At Eden Gardens, where the match will take place, it is no surprise that KKR, as the home side, has won eight matches against SRH, whereas Hyderabad has won only three games.

Last clash

Last season, Kolkata and Hyderabad played two games against each other, with the first match going to Hyderabad, as mentioned above. However, the last game the two sides played ended in Kolkata’s favour.

Batting first, KKR set a decent target of 200 runs on the board. Unfortunately, SRH could not deal with KKR bowlers who wrapped the Hyderabad batting line-up at merely 120 runs, thanks to three wickets each by Vaibhav Arora and Varun Chakaravarthy, whereas two more were grabbed by Andre Russell.

Personal milestone

Several generic records are expected to be broken, such as the fastest century, the fastest half-century, the maximum runs by a team, and so on. However, we have identified some personal milestones that are on the card. The upcoming game will be Ajinkya Rahane’s 200th IPL game, whereas Sunil Narine is 20 runs away from 1,800 IPL runs. In the last match, Narine became the overseas player with the most IPL appearances, so he will continue to extend that number.

From the SRH camp, Heinrich Klassen is 20 runs away from hitting 1,500 IPL runs.
