IPL 2026: PBKS vs. GT -- Five Players Who Once Represented the Opponent Team

Out of the five players, four once played for Punjab but are now part of the Gujarat Titans

The fifth match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) will see Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans face off, serving as the season opener for both teams. Given that the Gujarat Titans are relatively new to the IPL, having made their debut in 2021, only six matches have been played between the two sides so far.

However, on the evening of March 31, several former Punjab players could be seen in the dugout or playing XI of the Gujarat Titans, whereas one famous Titans’ player will represent the Punjab Kings.

Ahead of the game, let us check out five players who once represented the opposite side.

Rahul Tewatia

Starting his IPL career with the Rajasthan Royals in 2014, Tewatia moved to Kings XI Punjab, where he played only three matches before moving to the Delhi Capitals in 2018. In 2022, he was picked by the Gujarat Titans, where he finally found his rhythm and has since become a consistent player for them.

Shahrukh Khan

The tall, hard-hitting batter from Tamil Nadu was picked for INR 5.25 crore by the Punjab Kings and stayed with the northern outfit till 2023. In 2024, he moved to the Gujarat Titans and has been with them since then. Last season, Khan scored 179 runs in 15 matches.

Kagiso Rabada

Having made his debut with the Delhi Capitals, Kagiso Rabada picked 100+ wickets for the Delhi Capitals between 2017 and 2021. In 2022, he moved to the Punjab Kings and spent two years with them until, in 2025, he was picked by the Gujarat Titans to bolster their bowling. Last year, he was picked for INR 10.75 crore but played only four matches, taking two wickets.

Gurnoor Singh Brar

A lesser-known name, Gurnoor Singh Brar, was picked by the Punjab Kings in 2023 as a replacement bowler who impressed the team as a net bowler. However, with the Kings, he did get an IPL debut. In 2025, the Titans bought him for INR 1.3 crore, and he made his debut, conceding 42 runs in 18 balls at an economy rate of 14.00, after which he did not play another game. Going by the trend, Brar is unlikely to get many chances in the Titans camp.

Lockie Ferguson

One of New Zealand's best pace bowlers, Lockie Ferguson, made his IPL debut in 2017 with the Rising Pune Supergiant and moved to the Knight Riders in 2019, where he spent two seasons. In 2022, he joined the Titans, with whom he won the IPL before moving back to the Riders in 2023. In 2024, he made another switch, this time to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and finally, last year, he went to the Punjab Kings. In 49 IPL matches, he has 51 wickets, and in 2025, he played only four games for the Kings.
