Travel Made Easy: Know the Process of Self-Drop Baggage Introduced First Time by Delhi Airport

Now you can drop your heavy luggage during checking in without worrying about long queues.

It sometimes become highly irritating to stand in a long queue to submit your luggage and collect the boarding pass. Although self check-in and boarding pass generation were popular for passengers, baggege drop always remained an issue. To solve this problem, Delhi airport authority came up with an innovative solution. In this article, we will discuss about this self luggage drop facility in the airport.

Improved Travel Experience:

The conventional check-in process involves printing of boarding pass and then submitting the luggage to the operator.

“We have introduced the Self-Service Bag Drop Quick Drop Solution at Delhi Airport, setting a new standard for passenger convenience and efficiency in India. This initiative is aimed at leveraging advanced technology to enhance the travel experience. The Quick Drop Solution not only speeds up the baggage drop process but also ensures a smoother journey for our passengers,” said Videh Kumar Jaipuriar, CEO of Delhi International Airport Limited.

How to Avail the Facility

This new facility will allow travellers to collect and attach their luggage tags at the common-use self-service (CUSS) kiosks. After that, the travellers need to place their bags onto the Self-Service Bag Drop (SSBD) conveyor belt. There will be separate SBD machines for respective airlines. You just need to put your luggage there after adding the tag. Don't forget to double check the tag, PNR number and name.

The Benefits:

By launching this new self-service mechanism, passengers can easily avoid the long queue and complete the whole process within 30 seconds, according to the airport authority.

Infrastructure Development:

According to the airport authority, to make this system fully functional, approximately 50 Self-Service Bag Drop (SSBD) units have already been installed across Terminal 1 and 3. As of now, passengers travelling via Air India, IndiGo, and Air India Express would be eligible for using those facilities.

The airport authority said that the SBD system will internally check all those relevant criteria along with business rules mentioned by different airlines. Now, the passengers have to agree with the rules for carrying dangerous goods after submitting a self-declaration form digitally.

After the verification completion, the bag will be automatically processed by airline operators.
