Tabu made a blink-and-miss appearance in the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer. But do you know the story behind it?
These days, cameos have become a trend in mainstream Hindi cinema. Literally every other film features (one or multiple) surprise appearances of celebrities. Some of them serve the story and make the films more interesting, while others are just there to draw more audiences to theatres. Examples include films like 'Pathaan' and 'Tiger 3', where superstars Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan made exciting cameos in each other's films. In the recently released 'Singham Again', there are so many cameos that you may lose count and eventually forget who the actual hero is!

The trend is gaining so much popularity that filmmakers today are spending lots of time designing those cameos. And subsequently, the duration is also increasing with time. However, that wasn't the case back in 2004, in 'Main Hoon Na'. Tabu made a blink-and-miss appearance with Shah Rukh Khan in the film, and guess the duration - it's 0.2 seconds. Yes, it was so short and insignificant that nobody really noticed her at first viewing. Just recently, the clip has surfaced on social media, leaving fans excited like anything!
Back in 2002, Tabu and Shah Rukh Khan played a couple in the Vivek Oberoi-Rani Mukerji starrer 'Saathiya'. Later, in 2007, the actress was seen with SRK in the song "Deewangi Deewangi" in 'Om Shanti Om'. In between these two, they were seen together in only one frame in 'Main Hoon Na' (2004). And that's arguably the most interesting one.

You may wonder why director Farah Khan placed such a cameo by Tabu in the film, which clearly had no significance at all. And also, why did an actress of her stature agree to do it? Well, the answer is incredibly simple though.
Some time ago, a Twitter (X) user posted a screenshot of the cameo on the platform, with the caption, "Still trying to figure out why Tabu agreed to this .2 second cameo in "Main Hoon Na'."
The post went viral in no time. Thereafter, Farah replied to the tweet, saying, "Arre she was in Darjeeling for some other shoot and came to visit me on my set. And I literally put her in this shot. Without makeup and in her personal clothes."

It's worth noting that Farah considers Tabu as her lucky charm, and that's why she insisted the actress appear in her debut film. Well, the film eventually became a massive blockbuster, breaking several records at the box office.
Tabu and SRK would undoubtedly make an interesting pair on the screen. Today, on Tabu's birthday, let's hope that happens soon!
