Several players so far have been ruled out of the tournament due to injuries or health issues
The ICC T20 World Cup is currently underway, with the dominant teams emerging victorious in their matches, yet not without significant challenges from the emerging nations. In the midst of the intense competition, several teams are encountering a unique challenge – injuries and health issues. Yes, the very first phase of the tournament has seen several players ruled out temporarily or permanently due to injuries.

One of the rising all-rounders from the Indian camp, Harshit Rana’s tournament ended even before it had begun. The KKR player sustained a knee injury during a warm-up game versus South Africa on the 4th of February, because of which he was ruled out and replaced by Mohd. Siraj.
Wanindu Hasaranga
Sri Lanka’s star bowler Wanindu Hasaranga has been ruled out of the tournament following a hamstring injury he suffered during the tournament opener game against Ireland in Colombo. He was on the track to surpass Shakib Al Hasan’s record of picking the maximum wickets in the tournament’s history, i.e., 50 wickets. However, Hasaranga, with 40 wickets, will not be able to break the record in this edition.
Michael Bracewell
New Zealand’s 34-year-old all-rounder Michael Bracewell has had to say goodbye to his teammate due to a calf injury. Bracewell had suffered the injury last month during the ODI series versus India but was working on himself to make sure he was fit for the tournament. Unfortunately, Bracewell's injury aggravated during a warm-up game against Afghanistan, resulting in his absence for nearly three weeks.
Tim David
Australian opener Tim David also missed the opening game versus Ireland on February 11 because of a hamstring injury, which has kept him out of action since December 26. However, he has been training with the Aussies, hoping to join the squad on the field as soon as possible.
Abhishek Sharma
India’s other star batter, Abhishek Sharma, has been temporarily relieved of his duties after the player complained about stomach aches. Sharma has been admitted to hospital for a stomach issue and is certain to miss the game versus Namibia. With the India versus PAK match around the corner, India would need him to return, but only if he is fully fit.
