Sushant Singh Rajput's Birth Anniversary: The Late Actor Owned Land On Moon - Know How

According to reports, it had cost him around Rs 55 lakh.

It's often said that curiosity lies at the soul of art. When you are curious, you explore, observe, question, learn, and understand the world deeply - and all these help you create your art. Now, what made Sushant Singh Rajput so brilliant (and beloved by all) as an artist was his unprecedented curiosity. As Manoj Bajpayee said, "What I automatically recall about Sushant is how much interest he had about everything in life. He was always curious to learn about everything - the unknown, space, about quantum physics, about acting, about filmmaking." The late actor, himself, said in an interview, "I have always been fascinated by outer space. As a kid too, I was interested in stars, constellations, and galaxies. I always wanted to know what life in space would be like."

As you may know, Rajput - even after establishing himself as a film star - aspired to become an astronaut. And that curiosity about outer space inspired him to purchase land on the Moon. Today, as we celebrate his 39th birth anniversary, let's learn about that in this article.

Sushant Singh Rajput Owned A Piece Of Land On Moon

Back in 2018, Rajput had purchased a piece of land - called Mare Muscoviense or the 'Sea of Muscovy' - on the far side of the moon. If reports are to be believed, it cost him around Rs 55 lakh. He used to often watch it through his telescope.

Now, if you are wondering how he purchased the same, well, it's not so difficult. There are several websites where you can visit and select the region of your choice on the Moon. According to reports, Rajput bought his land through the website called 'The Lunar Registry'.

Some Interesting Facts About Owning Land On The Moon

This may not equate to any legal ownership, as celestial bodies are considered "the common heritage of mankind and cannot be owned by any nation."

In your ownership package, you get an information sheet regarding the geography of your land and its satellite photographs among others.

Several actors in Bollywood own land on the moon. The list includes Shah Rukh Khan who was gifted a piece of land on the moon by a fan in Australia on his 52nd birthday. That's located in a region called the Sea of Tranquillity.

About Sushant Singh Rajput's Passion For Space Science

Rajput was a brilliant student - he was a National Physics Olympiad champion and a seventh-rank holder in the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE).

As mentioned earlier, he aspired to become an astronaut even after becoming a Bollywood star. He owned several telescopes and often used them to gaze at the Jupiter moons, the Saturn rings, and the Andromeda Galaxy. He had the Meade 14" LX-600 - one of the world's most advanced and costliest telescopes. Moreover, he had several important books on astronomy.

Notably, he undertook special astronomy training at NASA while preparing for his role in 'Chanda Mama Door Ke'. Unfortunately, that film later got shelved.
