Suit up, as we take a deep plunge into the world of Suits! This legal drama, with its rib-tickling monologues, dramatic courtroom battles, and an ensemble cast as complicated as they were charismatic, had audiences for nine seasons.
But while Mike Ross and Harvey Specter often took center stage, many of its supporting characters were just as compelling-if not more so. Here are some Suits characters deserving of their own movie and why it is necessary that their stories be just as riveting on the big screen.
Few characters on Suits are as infectiously complicated as Louis Litt. He is the underdog at first glance-neurotic, insecure, and always seeking reassurance from his peers. But as the series unravels, Louis is a great lawyer with pure gold for a heart, and who absolutely adores cats. A movie centered around Louis would tackle his bumpy career, his struggle with self-worth, and the climb right up to managing partner of the firm.
It would be both a legal drama and a deep character study to follow Louis in his insecurities and finally gaining the respect he so badly wanted. Plus, there would be ample opportunity for his trademark quirky moments-like his obsession with mudding or his unfiltered emotional outbursts.
Donna Paulsen is more than Harvey Specter's right-hand woman; she is the queen of sass, wit, and poise. A movie centered around Donna would explain her backstory: just how she came to be this all-knowing, omnipresent force at the law firm and how deep her relationship with Harvey runs. Donna, with ease and utmost character, manages any crisis that comes forward-be it a legal one or an emotional one-and that is what makes her so strong.
A Donna-centric film could trace her early career, how she went from being an assistant to the COO of the firm, and some of the struggles in between. Donna's sharp-witted one-liners and manner of reading people would make for a fun, yet emotionally engaging, film. Plus, it'll be interesting to see more of her personal life and maybe even the untold story of her romance with Harvey from her perspective.
Jessica Pearson is everything to the book: strength, elegance, intelligence-all in one package. The managing partner of Pearson Specter, Jessica was always the most formidable figure in the room. When the Suits spinoff Pearson gave us a taste of her life after being at the law firm, a full-fledged movie would be a real opportunity to delve into the past of Jessica and her rise to power.
Suits turned Meghan Markle's Rachel Zane from a paralegal to a lawyer, but her story is anything but over. A movie about Rachel could focus on her life after she leaves Pearson Specter and moves to Seattle with Mike. Mike became a star lawyer, but Rachel's road as a lawyer deserved way more attention, and also as an advocate for justice. The movie could follow Rachel through her juggling the law profession along with her interest in humanitarian causes.
At this point, it really seems that these characters of Suits have just begun, though the show is over. They are all layered with immense backstory that could translate so easily onto the screen.
