Sonu Sood Pledges to Fund Andhra Girls' College Education: Take A Look Back at His Heartwarming Philanthropy

"I will make sure she gets admission in a college of her choice", the actor replied.

Once again, Sonu Sood has made headlines for his act of generosity. His quick response to a tweet where netizens asked him to support a girl from Andhra Pradesh has reinstated his image as a real-life hero. The girl's background is subpar, and she wants to pursue BSC in a college but is unable to afford the college fees. "She is very poor and really wants to study BSC. You can do anything, Sonu sir. Please help this girl," this was posted on X. "I will make sure she gets admission in a college of her choice", the actor replied.

Sood has long been associated with acts of philanthropy where students are concerned and extend a helping hand to the needy. Stepping up to make a difference inspires him and shows how much he cares about social issues. Through this article, we will recall his few acts of generosity.

COVID-19 days

Remember the time when COVID-19 hit and many people's lives were disrupted? Many migrant workers were stranded and were waiting for the government to help them. However, the actor appeared as a messiah and helped those in dire need. He arranged private buses and trains to help over 15,000 stranded migrant workers up to Bihar, Assam, Odisha, and Jharkhand. He made sure that the workers returned to their homes safely, along with food and water.

He even arranged temporary stays in a Juhu hotel for more than 45,000 people with ample food resources. He distributed more than 25,00 PPE kits and face masks. Pravasi Aap was launched to help interstate unemployed migrants find suitable job opportunities. Four hundred fifty workers got a job through this app. The actor's work also did not stop here. Sood arranged airlifts for critical COVID-19 patients with advanced treatment and supplied oxygen cylinders to the hospitals. He even provided meals to an entire village in Madhya Pradesh. He was always communicating on social media and often replied to telephone calls.

Sood Charity Foundation

Sonu Sood founded the Sood Charity Foundation to extend his impact beyond the lockdown period. They aim to transform impoverished lives by empowering them with the necessities that make a person's life healthy and productive. The organisation has distributed over four million meals and provided food to more than 18,000 families. It has arranged transportation for over 90,000 migrant workers across the country. Some of its key focus areas include funding ENT surgeries for people who cannot afford them and providing scholarships to students from financially weak backgrounds.

In 2021, Sood's foundation joined with the education technology venture Edukemy to offer 100% scholarships to economically weaker students preparing for the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) exam. 'Sankaap' was launched by his foundation to help underprivileged students. It offers a free law entrance coaching programme with academic guidance and essential resources for CLAT and AILET. When a train accident happened in Balasore, Odhisha, last year, Sood launched a helpline for the victims and even asked the government to set up a relief fund.

His upcoming projects

Sonu Sood is coming up with his next film, Fateh. Directed by Sood himself, this cybercrime thriller is set in action dramas like Hollywood films. Sood, Naseeruddin Shah, and Jacqueline Fernandez are part of the movie's cast. This is Sood's first directorial film, slated for release later this year.
