Yup, it's happening! Rajnikanth and Big B, two legends of Indian cinema, have come together once again (after 33 years) for 'Vettaiyan', and you know it's going to be a cinematic explosion on the screen. Several photos of the two from the sets have surfaced on social media. Also, Bachchan shared a photo of him with Thalaivar on social media, with the caption, "I’m honored and privileged to be with the Thala the Great Rajni again. He hasn’t changed at all, the same simple humble down-to-earth friend despite his stratospheric greatness."

For the unversed, Rajinikanth considers Big B his mentor and has starred in several remakes of the latter's films throughout his career. Well, as we gear up to witness the two on the big screen yet again, let's revisit their previous films that took the country by storm!
T. Rama Rao's 1983 action-drama film 'Andhaa Kaanoon' was the first time that the Tamil megastar joined forces with Bollywood's legendary actor. Rajinikanth played the lead, Vijay Kumar Singh, while Bachchan made an extended cameo as Jaan Nisar Khan. Besides them, there were Hema Malini, Reena Roy, Prem Chopra, Danny Denzongpa, Pran, Madan Puri, and Amrish Puri among others.
'Andhaa Kaanoon' is a remake of the 1981 Tamil film 'Sattam Oru Iruttarai'. The film revolves around two siblings who go on to avenge the murder of their parents. It was a massive commercial success, emerging as the 5th highest-grossing film of the year.
'Geraftaar', directed by Prayag Raaj, starred Amitabh Bachchan alongside Kamal Haasan, Madhavi, and Poonam Dhillon in lead roles, while Rajinikanth made a cameo appearance as Bachchan's friend. Thanks to the insane star power of both the actors, not to mention Kamal Haasan's, the film received huge acclaim from audiences. And Rajinikanth's magnetic screen presence perfectly complemented Bachchan's impeccable performance.

The film follows two long-lost brothers who cross each other's paths in the prison. It was a big success at the box office and was the third-highest-grossing film of the year.
Unlike the other two films, 'Hum' had both Rajinikanth and Bachchan in full-fledged roles. And it set the screen on fire whenever the two appeared together!
Rajinikanth was Inspector Kumar Malhotra, while Bachchan played the role of Shekhar Malhotra. Rajinikanth's charisma and trademark swag made it a delightful watch, and on the other hand, Bachchan's towering presence as the protagonist added enormous depth to the narrative. And the chemistry between them worked brilliantly throughout!

Besides the duo, there were also Govinda, Kimi Katkar, Deepa Sahi, Shilpa Shirodkar, Danny Denzongpa, Anupam Kher, and Kader Khan among others. It received 7 nominations at the 37th Filmfare Awards, winning 4 including Best Actor for Bachchan.
Well, now let's wait and see what 'Vettaiyan' has to offer!
