This remarkable achievement came during the third and final Test against the West Indies at Emirates Old Trafford. England's first inning saw them posting a solid 369, led by Ollie Pope’s 91, with crucial contributions from Jos Buttler (67) and Rory Burns (57). However, it was Broad’s unexpected batting heroics, scoring 62 from just 45 balls, that provided a vital boost after a mini-collapse. In response, Broad’s lethal bowling dismantled the West Indies, claiming six for 31 and bundling them out for 197.
In England's second innings, Burns (90), Joe Root (68*), and Dom Sibley (56) propelled the team to 226 for 2 declared, setting a daunting target of 398 for the West Indies. Broad then struck twice late on the third day, putting England in a commanding position before rain washed out the fourth day.

After a brief rain interruption, Broad trapped Kraigg Brathwaite with a ball that kept low, securing his 500th Test wicket. Incidentally, Brathwaite was also the 500th wicket for James Anderson, Broad’s long-time bowling partner, back in 2017.
After achieving this historic milestone, Broad made way for Chris Woakes, who shone with a five-wicket haul. Woakes dismissed key players, reducing the West Indies to 129 and ensuring England’s massive 269-run victory.
