Meghan Markle's Lifestyle Brand Reportedly Faces CEO Issues; Workers Quit Over ‘Demanding’ Work Environment

Meghan Markle's brand, American Riviera Orchard, is reportedly expected to debut later in 2024.

Meghan Markle is reportedly in troubled waters as she faces delays in launching her new lifestyle brand American Riviera Orchard. She is not only “struggling to find a CEO”, but is also being labelled as “condescending” by a former member of staff, as per a report in New York Post (NYP).

For those caught unaware, American Riviera Orchard went viral with a teaser on March 14. The brand has been named after her and Prince Harry’s coastal California home, and is targeted at offering a range of kitchen and lifestyle products. The name “American Riviera” is a direct reference to Santa Barbara, California, and the area is known for its Mediterranean climate and lush landscapes.

However, despite the online buzz, the brand is not able to find a suitable leader, which has led to delays in its rollout. “The numbers don’t lie, and to have almost 20 members of staff quitting on them tells its own story,” NYP quoted a source as saying. The staffers further claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan are “very demanding and difficult to work for,” which has left them frustrated.

Not to miss, Markle’s recently hired chief of staff, Josh Kettler, too quit within three months. Kettler, a public relations expert, was actually hired to help Prince Harry in his public engagements, including a trip to London for the Invictus Games. When he left the work profile, it was said that both parties felt it wasn’t the right fit.

Nonetheless, despite the challenges, Markle’s brand has had some initial offerings. She kicked it off by delivering jars of strawberry jam to select celebrities, which got everyone talking about American Riviera Orchard. The brand’s Instagram account too has a retro-style video of Markle in her kitchen, and how the brand remains focused on home, cooking, and entertaining. However, the brand’s diverse product lineup also includes kitchenware, edible treats like jams and spreads, and cosmetics.

Coming to its launch, there is no confirmation yet but reports suggest that American Riviera Orchard is expected to debut in later 2024. The brand’s Instagram bio states it was “established in 2024” and is a reflection of Markle’s personal style and interests.
