In case you have some free time from cricket, here’s a list of things you can check out near the Oval

India moves to London for the fifth and final Test match of the Anderson-Tendulkar trophy. Scheduled to be played at the Oval in Kennington, South London, India will play to salvage the series.

As always, despite playing in England, India will enjoy the support of Indians living in London. However, Indian cricket enthusiasts from other parts of the world who are hardcore Test viewers are expected to reach the city to witness the final clash between the two cricketing giants.

In case you are flying to London just for the test, here are some things you can check out near the Oval if you have a packed schedule.

Kennington Park

One can start with Kennington Park, a beautiful park that offers various activities, such as skating and basketball courts. The Kenniston Palace is located within the park's premises, which are open to the public. The highlight of the palace is the king's and queen's state apartments.

Buckingham Palace

Buckingham Palace is open to the public primarily from late spring to early September. Therefore, apart from cricket, this is the perfect time to explore one of the most important palaces in the world’s history. The 19 magnificent state rooms are bound to leave you mesmerised.

Opened in 1269, the Anglican Church, with its Gothic architecture, is one of the finest in the world. While it is free to explore and one can even pray, a guided tour is a better option that offers in-depth insight into the church. However, if short on time, just a walk to explore the church should be the ideal choice.

Big Ben & House of Parliament

If you visit Westminster Abbey, Big Ben & the Houses of Parliament are close to the Abbey and should not be missed. Big Ben & the House of Parliament need no introduction.

Churchill War Rooms

Near Big Ben also lies the Churchill War Rooms. This is a secret bunker where former and later British Prime Minister Winston Churchill operated during World War II. If you're interested in learning about the events that unfolded during that period, this place is a must-visit.

London Eye

On the opposite bank of the River Thames is the London Eye Ferris wheel. If you wish to view the skyline of London, hop on the wheel for a joyride.
