Asia Cup 2025: Sixers or Nothing – Players With Maximum Sixes in Both ODI and T20 Formats

These players lit the stage on fire with their maximums

The Asia Cup 2025 is here, and this year, the tournament is following the T20 format, which means there will be a plethora of sixes. After all, T20 means fiery shots from the get-go, and if teams wish to put high scores on the board, batters from top to bottom will have to send the ball in the stands and beyond. We expect new records to be created involving sixes, but as for now, let us look at the batters with the maximum sixes in the Asia Cup history.

ODI Format

Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma sits at the top when it comes to hitting the maximum sixes in the Asia Cup ODI history. Between 2008 and 2023, the Hitman played 28 matches and 26 innings in which he hit 28 sixes. He also scored 939 runs to become one of the few players to have ever come close to the 1,000-run mark.

Shahid Afridi

Shahid Afridi is second on the list when it comes to hitting the maximum in the ODI format of the Asia Cup history. Between 1997 and 2014, Afridi played 23 matches in which he hit 26 sixes. However, in terms of runs, his average was a meagre 35, scoring only 532 runs.

Sanath Jayasuriya is one of the few players who crossed the 1,000-run mark in Asia Cup history. He played 25 ODI matches in the Asia Cup, hitting 23 sixes. Not to forget, Jayasuriya won the Asia Cup twice, in 1997 and 2004.

Suresh Raina

Another Indian stalwart known for his hitting capabilities, Suresh Raina scored 18 sixes in 13 matches between 2008 and 2012. Despite playing 13 matches, he scored 547 runs, which demonstrates his significant power-hitting ability.

T20 Format

In recent years, Afghanistan has gradually emerged as a major T20 playing nation and has also taken steps to improve its performance in ODIs and Tests. Najibullah is an example of Afghanistan’s T20 prowess, hitting 13 sixes in the T20 format of the Asia Cup in eight matches.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz

Another from Afghanistan, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, stands second on the list with his 12 sixes in five matches. He maintained a strike rate of over 160 in these five games.

Rohit Sharma

There is a reason why Rohit Sharma is called the Hitman, i.e., he appears twice on this list. In the T20 format, Rohit Sharma hit 12 sixes, but he is placed below Gurbaz because he achieved this feat in nine matches. He could’ve surpassed the above-mentioned players, but unfortunately, he has retired from the T20 format.

Virat Kohli

Similar to Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli has also retired from the T20 format. If not, he could’ve increased his number from the 10 sixes that he hit in 10 matches played between 2016 and 2022.

While others may join the ranks, Zadran and Gurbaz, both included in the Asia Cup 2025 squad, will have the opportunity to increase their numbers and create a bigger gap.
