Vicky Kaushal’s comic timing, coupled with his natural charm, has certainly made him a favourite with audiences.
Vicky Kaushal is currently awaiting the release of Bad Newz, which also stars Triptii Dimri and Ammy Virk. The film, which is slated to hit the theatres on July 19, will have Vicky tickle your funny bone once again. Directed by Anand Tiwari, the film is about pregnancy confusion. Backed by Dharma Productions under the leadership of Karan Johar, the film promises to be a laugh-out-loud comedy experience.
However, this is not Vicky’s first foray into comedy. Despite getting praise for his roles in
Uri: The Surgical Strike, Sardar Udham, and Sam Bahadur, Vicky has showcased his perfect comic timing in several films. And now with Bad Newz on the horizon, it’s safe to say that he is a versatile actor who can impress in any genre. So let’s take a look at some of his standout comic performances on the screen:
In the Netflix project, Vicky played the role of Sanjay, an ambitious young IT engineer, aiming to afford a home in the city of Mumbai, and how he attempts to navigate the city’s crazy housing market. To tackle that, he enters a marriage of convenience with Kareena (played by Angira Dhar). His portrayal was not only relatable but he perfectly captured the frustrations of young people trying to make it in a big city.
Vicky Kaushal certainly impressed everyone as Kamli from the 2018 biopic Sanju. For those caught unaware, Kamli aka Kamlesh is Sanjay Dutt’s (played by Ranbir Kapoor) supportive best friend. Be it his goofy antics or funny one-liners, Vicky brings lightheartedness to the film, which is otherwise intense.
Vicky Kaushal played Govinda in the film, a charming but helpless backup dancer who wished to be a choreographer. His character has to juggle between his frustrated wife Gauri (played by Bhumi Pednekar) and his dream girl Suku (played by Kiara Advani), another dancer in his group. His comic timings in scenes about the desperation of a man caught between his wife and his girlfriend is funnier than ever.
Vicky Kaushal played Kapil in the 2023 rom-com Zara Hatke Zara Bachke. Both him and his wife Somya (played by Sara Ali Khan), decide on an impulsive divorce, but soon chaotic situations erupt when their families get involved. The film, and Vicky’s character, is both heartwarming and hilarious.
Vicky Kaushal’s act of Sukhi in Dunki, headlined by Shah Rukh Khan, impressed everyone. He plays a man with a desperate desire to reunite with his ex-girlfriend, Jassi. His emotional vulnerability added with his hilarious character and the message behind it couldn’t help but get noticed by the audience and the critics.
Vicky’s comedic performance as Ved Vyas Tripathi, also known as Bhajan Kumar, from the film The Great Indian Family, cannot go unmentioned. He played the role of a devout Hindu Pandit raised in a conservative Brahmin family, but he soon discovers he’s actually Muslim by birth. With the absurdity of the situation and Ved’s culture clash offers some hilarious moments in the film, and Vicky performed them with utmost finesse.
