Ever since the Khel Khel Mein poster was released, fans cannot wait for ‘king of comedy’ Akshay Kumar to return to the genre.
It would not be wrong to say that Akshay Kumar can do action, drama as well as comedy. He is an actor who can dabble in different genres. He was last seen in Sarfira, a drama film, and is now gearing up for the release of a comedy film, titled Khel Khel Mein. The actor recently took to his social media account to share the first motion poster of the much-awaited film, which features an ensemble cast including Taapsee Pannu, Fardeen Khan, Vaani Kapoor, Ammy Virk, Aditya Seal and Pragya Jaiswal.

The motion poster not only reveals the ensemble cast but also their two moods. While the first photo is of the team laughing, in the second image, the cast seems to be guarding a secret with a finger on their lips. Nonetheless, the audience was quick to notice Akshay’s salt-and-pepper look in the poster, and fans are looking forward to seeing him make a return to the comedy genre after almost 5 years.
Interestingly, with Khel Khel Mein, Akshay is reuniting with Fardeen after Heyy Babyy (2007). The film is helmed by Mudassar Aziz, who has earlier directed films like Dulha Mil Gaya, Happy Bhag Jayegi, Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi and Pati Patni Aur Woh.
Reportedly, the story of Khel Khel Mein revolves around a group of friends, apparently three couples, who gather for a dinner but end up revealing secrets about each other. The film promises to be a rollercoaster ride with a perfect mix of humour, intriguing conversations, interesting characters and more.
Actor Aditya Seal, who stars in the film, recently spoke to news agency IANS about Khel Khel Mein, and shared how it is based on themes of friendship and relationships, with all the drama unfolding over the course of a single night. He mentioned how that one night changes many things and relationships between friends.
He even opened up about working with an interesting bunch of actors, and said, “Such a unique thing to have happened that we have a cast that has such a diverse fan base between Ammy paaji and Pragya, we have gone all the way from north to down south. Such a unique mix of people yet we all bonded as one.”
Khel Khel Mein is backed by Gulshan Kumar, T-Series and Wakaoo Films, and is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Vipul D. Shah, Ashwin Varde, Rajesh Bahl, Shashikant Sinha and Ajay Rai. The much-awaited film will be released in theatres this year on August 15, on the occasion of Independence Day 2024.
At the box office, it will clash with Vedaa and Stree 2. While Vedaa is an action drama film directed by Nikkhil Advani and stars John Abraham, Sharvari, and Tamannaah Bhatia, Stree 2 is a comedy horror film directed by Amar Kaushik. A sequel to Stree, the film features Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, alongside Pankaj Tripathi, and Aparshakti Khurana.
