Zomato Founder Deepinder Goyal Joins Billionaire Club at 41: List of India's Youngest Entrepreneur Billionaires

Deepinder Goyal, the founder of nationally famous food delivery system Zomato joined the prestigious billionaire club at the age of 41.

Goyal has become India’s richest professional manager with his net worth of approximately Rs 8,300 crore. Currently, he has around 36.95 crore shares or 4.24 % stake in Zomato. Deepinder Goyal & Zomato’s Journey:

Goyal’s journey from a middle-class family background to a billionaire started since his graduation in Mathematics and Computing from IIT Delhi. He started working working in Bain and Company, however, passion about food from childhood made him establish the company named FoodieBay.com, which was later renamed as Zomato.com. Realising the potential for streamlining food ordering process, Goyal and his friends received an initial funding from Info Edge in 2011. This eventually helped them to build Zomato, which became a Unicorn in 2018.

Zomato's quick commerce venture Blinkit is also growing rapidly, much ahead of peers including Swiggy Instamart and Zepto. As per recent Goldman Sachs report, Blinkit is valued at $13 billion, up from $2 billion in March 2023, with a per-share value of Rs 119, surpassing Zomato, which is currently at Rs 98.

Nikhil Kamath, co-founder of Zerodha (started in 2010), achieved billionaire status in 2021, when he was only 34 years old. He's often regarded as India’s youngest self-made billionaire. Zerodha is a Bangalore-based discount brokerage company which revolutionized Indian brokerage market. As per Forbes magazine, currently, Nikhil Kamath has a net worth of $3.1 Billion.

Binny Bansal

You might have done shopping from Flipkart, but probably have no idea about the founder. Indian entrepreneur Binny Bansal co-founded Flipkart in 2007, which became one if the biggest e-commerce companies in India gradually. He achieved billionaire status at the age of 33 in 2015. Currently, he has a net worth of $1.4 Billion.

Sachin Bansal

The other founder of Flipkart, Sachin Bansal, also became a billionaire at 35. Started with a modest savings, both the friends built a huge company, which was later acquired by Wallmart. After leaving Flipkart, he opened his own Fintech start-up Navi. Currently he has a net worth of $1.4 Billion.

Nithin Kamath 

The co-founder of Zerodha, Nithin Kamath is currently the 4th youngest Billionaire from India. Currently, at the age of 44, Nithin has a net worth of $ 4.7 billion. Meanwhile, Zerodha, currently has 10 million customers across the globe.

Vijay Shekhar Sharma

The next in the list, Indian entrepreneur Vijay Shekhar Sharma launched Paytm to provide digital payments along with financial services in 2010. Later, Paytm was awarded with the ‘Most Innovative Startup of the Year’ from Franchise India which was a turning point. Over the last 14 years, Paytm has provided an innovative digital payment services in India and totally revolutionized online transaction space. Sharma became billionaire in his late thirties and currently has a net worth of $1.2 Billion.

Meanwhile, the title of youngest billionaire is held by Brazilian student, Livia Voigt who entered the list at the age of 19.
