Year Ender 2025: Six Occasions When Teams Crossed the 240-Run Mark

This season, several teams have scored more than 240 runs in 120 balls, putting bowlers in a dilemma

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 witnessed the game going in batters’ favour, with teams scoring too many runs on multiple occasions. In fact, throughout the tournament, teams breached the 240-run mark on six occasions, which is shocking given that the T20 format comprises only 120 deliveries. At times, teams fail to score 240 or more in ODI or Test matches. However, in the IPL, batters simply had the edge.

As the year comes to an end, here’s a recap of those six matches where teams scored 240 runs or above.

Shreyas Iyer was the star batter, hitting 82 runs off 36 balls, which helped PBKS post the mammoth target. However, SRH retaliated with a positive note as Abhishek Sharma scored 141 runs, becoming the Indian to score the highest score in IPL’s history. Despite PBKS’ 245 runs, SRH chased the target by scoring 247 runs. Therefore, in a single game, two teams surpassed the 240-run mark.
