It is considered the most expensive motorcycle by the Guinness World Records
In the world of automobiles, the evolution of cars is generally heavily discussed, starting from the Benz Patent Motor Car, model no. 1, to the present-gen hypercars, electric cars, and so on.
However, motorcycles have evolved at an equal pace and, in the process, have given birth to several automobile marvels – the YRK being one of them.
In 2000, Marine Turbine Technologies or MTT, decided to power a motorcycle with a jet engine.
The early models were fitted with Rolls-Royce-Allison Model 250-C18 gas turbine that churned out 320hp at 52,000rpm.
In later years, several motorcycles powered by propulsion were produced by other manufacturers. However, at MTT, the Y2K’s final power reached the rear wheel with the help of a chain drive and a two-speed gearbox.
To power the motorcycles, MTT has constantly refurbished jet turbines that surpassed the mandated running limit on planes.
Over the years, several iterations of the Y2K have been produced based on clients’ orders—all the motorcycles have registered a top speed of 400 kilometres per hour, with the top speed recorded at 435.
