The West Indies had Australia in a tricky position. A revised target of 116 in a rain-soaked final was no easy feat. However, Shane Watson’s all-round performance made it appear effortless.

An unbroken 57 off 88 balls, solid as a rock, guided Australia to their first Champions Trophy victory. Oh, and to ensure Watson’s impact was felt, he claimed two wickets for 11 runs with the ball. Talk about an impressive performance!

Centurion’s lone warrior – 2009 final

Fast forward three years. A different opponent, a different challenge, but the same match winner: Shane Watson. Australia found themselves in early trouble while chasing 201 against New Zealand.
