Get ready for more drama and medical moments as ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ returns with its 21st season!
Get ready to return to the operating room with a new season of ‘Grey’s Anatomy!’ ABC's longest-running medical drama is back with its 21st season, premiering today after a summer break. For nearly two decades, ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ has been one of the most popular and talked-about shows, capturing the hearts of viewers. Created by Shonda Rhimes, this series follows the personal and professional lives of surgical interns, residents, and attendings at the fictional Seattle Grace Hospital, now known as Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. The show's title is an allusion to ‘Gray's Anatomy,’ the famous human anatomy textbook. After an incredible 20-season run since its 2005 debut, the series is now returning for its 21st season.
The upcoming episode is set to continue from where the Season 20 finale left off, with Dr. Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) leaving Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital to focus on her Alzheimer's research. Several staff members, including Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone), Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd), and Chief of Surgery Teddy Altman (Kim Raver), were also fired. The new season is expected to explore the fallout from Catherine's decision to dismiss some of the hospital's top doctors, and it won’t stop there—she will also stir up significant trouble for Amelia and Meredith's research efforts.

Jake Borelli and Midori Francis will be departing their roles as Levi Schmitt and Mika Yasuda, respectively, with their characters’ storylines wrapping up in the first few episodes of Season 21. Meanwhile, Jason George, who played Ben Warren for seven seasons, will return in a recurring role as Miranda Bailey’s (Chandra Wilson) beloved husband. Season 21 of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ will feature an ensemble cast including Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson, James Pickens Jr., Kevin McKidd, Caterina Scorsone, Camilla Luddington, Kim Raver, Chris Carmack, Anthony Hill, Alexis Floyd, Harry Shum Jr., Adelaide Kane, and Niko Terho in prominent roles. In addition to the returning cast, ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 21 will introduce new characters, including Floriana Lima, who will portray Nora, a childhood friend of Owen Hunt. Nora arrives at Grey Sloan Memorial as a recently single mother, determined to do whatever it takes to create a better life for herself and her children.

Grey Sloan is set for nearly double the action in the upcoming season. Season 21 has an order of 18 episodes, compared to the 10 episodes of Season 20, which was shortened due to last year's actors' and writers' strikes. Typically, the medical drama premieres in the fall and concludes in the spring. The ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 21 will air on ABC, with the episode available for streaming on Hulu the following Friday morning. Additionally, the first 20 seasons are available to stream on both Netflix and Hulu.
