On This Day (June 24): The Opulent Car Collection of the Little Boy From Rosario

For Messi fans, his birthday brings a day of happiness but also a bit of helplessness

Born on June 24, 1987, Lionel Messi, the little boy from Rosario, has finally reached an age where playing football is proving to be tough for him. Today marks Messi’s 37th birthday, and while fans around the world go gaga celebrating the G.O.A.T’s special day, fans also feel helplessness given Messi could announce his retirement any day now or may be after the Copa America 2024.

To celebrate his special day, we take a look at Messi’s opulent car collection that showcases Messi’s success story from the humble streets of Argentina to becoming one of the richest footballers on earth.

Ferrari 335 S Spider Scaglietti

A racing sports car manufactured between 1957 and 1958, the Ferrari 335 S Spider Scaglietti is one of the most iconic cars to come out of the Italian stable. The car drew power from a 4.1-litre V12 engine and had a top speed of 305 kilometres per hour—a figure that was unheard of in the late 50s. The car was purchased by the Argentine superstar at an auction for a whopping 36 million dollars. Guess who came in second in the auction? Let us give a hint: his name starts with ‘C’, hailing from Portugal, and he presently plays for a club named Al-Nassr.

Audi fanboy

Messi may not love Germany for disallowing him the World Cup in 2014, but he certainly has a taste for German cars, especially Audi models. The Atomic Flea owns several models, including an Audi RS6 worth 108,000 million dollars, an A7 worth 69,200 million dollars, and a Q7 purchased at 54,590 million dollars. For the record, the RS6 is powered by a V8, TFSI twin-turbo engine, which generates 552.5hp of peak power. On the other hand, the A7 and Q7 draw power from a shared turbocharged V-6 unit that churns out a peak power of 335hp.

Pagani Zonda Tricolore

The Pagani Zonda Tricolore has to be one of the most unique modern-day cars in Lionel Messi’s collection. Powered by a Mercedes Benz AMG 7.3-litre V12 engine mated to a six-speed gearbox, the car generates a peak power of 670hp and a maximum torque of 780Nm. Based on the Zonda Cinque, Pagani manufactured only three Zonda Tricolores in the world; one of them belongs to Messi, making it one of the rarest cars in the history of automobiles. The car is worth two million dollars.

One of the most elegant cars ever to grace the streets of earth

Plethora of SUVs

On the one hand, Lionel Messi adores his collection of sports cars, but on the other hand, given that he is a family man, he purchases the most comfortable vehicles for his beloved wife and three children. SUVs such as the Range Rover Vogue and Range Rover Sport, worth 2,00,000 million dollars and 69,500 dollars, respectively, are often used by the Messi family. Not to forget, another special SUV is part of Messi’s family, i.e., the GM Cadillac Escalade, worth 2,50,000 million dollars.

On Messi’s birthday, we wish him a long and healthy life and also hope that he lifts the Copa America 2024.
