Yes, you read it absolutely right! 'Kanguva' has been made on a massive scale, and is all set to release theatrically on October 10, 2024 (on the occasion of Dussehra). And guess what, the film will be reportedly released in 38 languages globally in 2D, 3D, and IMAX formats. It's going to be the biggest release for a Tamil film, setting a new benchmark for mainstream Indian cinema.
Notably, 'Kanguva' was initially slated to be released in 10 Indian languages. However, the makers later changed itconsidering the film's merit. It will be released across numerous locations across the globe.
Speaking of this wide release, producer Gnanavel Raja shared in an interview that he was ambitious on "expanding the film’s marketing and distribution to new territories, thereby opening doors to unparalleled box office success and broader international reach for Tamil cinema".
'Kanguva' is touted to be a period action-drama film set in two different eras. Besides Suriya as the lead, it also stars an ensemble cast including Bobby Deol, Disha Patani, Natarajan Subramaniam, Jagapathi Babu, Redin Kingsley, Yogi Babu, Kovai Sarala, Ravi Raghavendra, K. S. Ravikumar, and Anandaraj. It has music composed by Devi Sri Prasad, cinematography by Vetri Palanisamy, and editing by Nishadh Yusuf.

The film was announced back in 2019 but was delayed due to several reasons. The pre-production works began in 2021.
Nayanthara was the first choice for the role (leading lady) opposite Suriya. That couldn't fructify, and it eventually went to Disha Patani. It marks her debut in Tamil cinema.
According to some reports, Suriya will be seen in 13 different looks in the film. It will break the record of his 2009 release 'Ayan' where he sported 10 different looks.
