The Brazilian supermodel headlined the star-studded showcase, turning heads in a showstopping ensemble.
Designer Manish Malhotra got everyone talking by hosting a couture party on Day 4 of the Hyundai India Couture Week. In the first-of-its-kind, he redefined runway standards and added a global twist by bringing Brazilian supermodel and former Victoria’s Secret Angel, Alessandra Ambrosio, as the showstopper. With her runway look, she made her India debut for the designer’s latest collection in not one but two looks.
Donning two signature Manish Malhotra ensembles, Alessandra highlighted Indian craftsmanship while embodying the designer’s maximalist aesthetic.
Her first look reimagined the traditional saree and featured a liquid silver palette with a sculpted bralette-style blouse with a sweetheart neckline. The outfit also had a mermaid-cut skirt, and the look was completed with rhinestone-studded drape. Her look was accessorized with diamond jewellery – a bold necklace, earrings, rings, and a haath phool – and minimalistic dewy makeup.
For her second look, Alessandra dazzled in a show-stopping cocktail lehenga featuring pearls and crystals. The A-line skirt featured embellishments, while the bustier blouse had a plunging neckline with structured peplum waist. The outfit’s white-and-silver tones were complemented with ruby-and-diamond choker, earrings and a mang-tika, slicked-back bun and nude-glam makeup.
Manish Malhotra’s couture party at the India Couture Week had both the fashion show, followed by nods to Bollywood’s most iconic fashion moments, including Priyanka Chopra’s Desi Girl saree, Kajol's green look from Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge.
