From the present squad, one bowler has over 100 international T20 wickets

India’s ODI squad lost the series against Australia but hopes are high from India’s T20 squad – a format in which the Men in Blue are truly dominating. The present squad has a great mix of batters and bowlers, and despite mostly being young, they have runs and wickets on the board.

In this article, our focus is on bowlers from the present squad who are taking on the Aussies. At the time of drafting this article, here’s how their wicket tallies look like.

Leading the chart is India’s only T20 bowler with over 100 international T20 wickets – Arshdeep Singh. Singh made his debut merely three years ago but within a short period, he has 101 wickets from 65 wickets. His best figure stands at 4/9 and overall, Singh has an economy of 8.37.

Jasprit Bumrah

When it comes to most T20I wickets for India, Hardik Pandya stands in the second position below Singh. However, since Pandya is not part of the squad, we move on to the next bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, currently one of the top pacers in the world. In 75 matches, Bumrah has 96 wickets at an economy of 6.35. If he picks four more wickets, he will surpass Pandya and become the second Indian bowler to have 100 T20I wickets after Singh. Bumrah’s best figure in the format stands at 3/7

Kuldeep Yadav

Currently, Kuldeep Yadav is India’s best spinner who has 86 wickets in 47 matches since his debut in 2017. Yadav has a figure best of 5/17 with an economy of 6.70. Expectations will be high from Yadav as he is the one who can dismantle the opposite team in the middle overs.

Axar Patel

India’s squad depth is truly incredible given most of the selected bowlers in the squad are sort at the top in the rankings. Although considered an allrounder, Axar Patel is another gem of a bowler with 77 wickets out of 78 matches. His stat may not be as impressive as the bowlers mentioned in the above paragraphs. However, one must not forget that Patel is heavily instrumental with the bat and often contributes by scoring crucial runs in the middle order.

Washington Sundar

Washington Sundar, another allrounder, is also up in the charts with 48 wickets in 54 matches. He has registered a figure best of 3/15 and an economy of 6.94. Similar to Axar Patel, Sundar also contributes with the bat and is expected to fire all his guns while batting in the middle order.

Varun Chakaravarthy

Down the pecking order is 34-year-old Varun Chakaravarthy who made his T20I debut only in 2021. So far, he has played 24 T20I games and has scalped 40 wickets with a figure best of 5/17.

Harshit Rana

The last bowler in the present Indian squad for the T20I series is Harshit Rana. Made his debut in 2025, Rana has only played three matches, having picked three wickets. Gautam Gambhir has heavily backed him and hopes to groom him for the 2026 T20 and 2027 ODI World Cup.
