Duleep Singh Trail

You must have heard of the famous Kohinoor, which is one of the most prized possessions in the world! Well, did you know it originally belonged to Dalip Singh? You might be wondering who Dalip Singh is. Dalip Singh was the son of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, one of the greatest kings known in Indian history, who ruled between 1780-1839. His son however was less fortunate and was removed from the throne, in 1849 and shipped off to England, where he lived for the rest of his life. He was based in Thetford, England. This trail, which you can follow with the help of an online map involves walking through Thetford and seeing the statues, library collections, houses and other public buildings which were associated with him. Following the trail tells us the story of a prince, who was meant to be king, but also one who lived a very fascinating life, even when he was sent off to England, where he settled, got married, had children and even had a very good friendship with Queen Victoria. Little Venice to Camden

If you are in search of a scenic route, involving the riverside, but also a different, comparatively quieter alley from which to walk down London, then walking down the route from Little Venice to Camden market in London is recommended. One gets to see London from a different perspective, as well as gets to understand how the river Thames, was and is so important for London.
