Five Marvel Superheroes With Names That Do Not Fit Their Character
Some Marvel superheroes have names so accurate that it almost seems corny, while others use codenames that neither fit their powers nor mission, and style.
Choosing a suitable name is crucial to a superhero's identity. Their name should adequately narrate their origin story about who they are and what their powers are in one or two words. But some Marvel superheroes have titles that do not tell a complete story or are totally misleading. Despite having misnomers, some heroes are now cultural icons. Check out some superheroes with inaccurate names that do not fit their character.
Adam Warlock is not a warlock
A warlock is a wizard, and they are expert sorcerers with extensive knowledge of spells and incantations. While Adam Warlock is entitled to powers that are otherworldly and spiritual — owing to his association with the Soul Stone — his super abilities are not mystical in nature.
In the cosmic history of the Marvel Universe, Adam Warlock plays an instrumental role in the legendary story ‘The Infinity Gauntlet’ and its follow-up sequels. But when it comes to Adam’s powers, he cannot be identified as a warlock.
Nightcrawler is not a worm
Nightcrawler, with his teleportation abilities, is often recognized as one of the most prominent mutants of his generation. However, he is named after a worm commonly used by fishermen as a fishing lure. But most worms do not have the appearance of a devilish blue elf, nor can they teleport. Hence, we can rightly suggest, neither Nightcrawler’s abilities nor his appearance resembles a worm.
Silver Surfer is not a surfer
While Silver Surfer uses a flat board to transport himself, it does not require any kind of waves to move. His board moves according to his will, and Silver Surfer's skin, created by Galactus, is reflective and shiny, offering a closer resemblance to chrome than silver.
Rocket Raccoon is not a raccoon
Raccoons are native North American mammals, and since they are only found in a continent on planet Earth, it is technically impossible to trace their existence on another planet. In simple words, Rocket Raccoon is not a raccoon. While the fiercest and cutest troublemaker among the Guardians of the Galaxy resembles a raccoon, Rocket hails from planet Halfworld, located in deep space. Hence, apart from Rocket’s name, he is nothing like a raccoon.
Daredevil never takes chances
The ultimate baddie who fights street-level crime in the MCU — Daredevil. Ironically, Daredevil is everything but recklessness. Typically, daredevils are viewed as cavalier people who engage in lethal stunts for excitement and thrill. But Daredevil is not an impulsive individual. Even when he teams up with other superheroes, he tries to protect them, and when fighting solo, he is always careful to shield himself against evildoers.
