Lakshya plays the protagonist in Karan Johar‘s film Kill, which is directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat.
It would not be wrong to say that Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions has launched several talented actors in Bollywood. And now he is all set to introduce a new name and it is none other than Lakshya, who is making his debut on the big screen in the action movie, Kill. His debut film has already left everyone excited.
For those caught unaware, the film, which marks Lakshya’s Bollywood debut, is helmed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat, and it also stars Raghav Juyal, Ashish Vidyarthi, Harsh Chhaya and Tanya Maniktala. The action thriller movie will be releasing in the theatres on 5 July and before you can see him in the lead role in Kill, here is everything you need to know about the fresh face of Dharma.
Laksh Lalwani aka Lakshya enjoyed a long stint on television, before he was signed for a three-film deal with Dharma. He was initially expected to make his debut with Dostana 2 in 2021, which starred Janhvi Kapoor and Kartik Aaryan in lead roles. The trio started shooting for the film in November 2019, however, it ended up getting shelved by the production house. Then, Karan announced Lakshya to be part of Shashank Khaitan’s love triangle film Bedhadak, co-starring Shanaya Kapoor and Gurfateh Pirzada. However, the film too never saw the light of the day, and Lakshya had been waiting for years to finally be a part of a Dharma film.
Do you know that Lakshya made his acting debut with the television series Warrior High in 2015? He was also seen in the role of Yuvraj Madhav Shekhawat/Krish in a television series titled Adhuri Kahaani Hamari. He was also part of an episode of Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya, before he was cast as Veer Mehra in Pardes Mein Hai Mera Dil (2016–2017). The even played the titular warrior in the historical TV show Porus between 2017–2018, before he was roped in by Dharma.
In Kill, Lakshya plays the part of an army officer. His character is shown travelling on a train with his partner, but things change when a gang of goons start creating a nuisance. Raghav Juyal, who plays the villain, kidnaps his lover and then Lakshya’s character sets off in a revenge mood. Talking about the film’s prep, the actor had said, “Throughout this journey, when I was like 17 – 18, I started as a wrestler. I did some wrestling during my school days and during this film as well, we trained for eight or nine months consecutively. So, of course, a lot of training has gone into it.”
Meanwhile, Kill is considered to be one of the most violent films made in Bollywood. It premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 7, 2023, and became the first runner-up for the People’s Choice Award: Midnight Madness.
