Actions Which Happens Behind Our Eyes

Whether we notice or not, at every moment, there are countless subtle phenomena of science and chemical reactions happening in the environment around us.  In front of our eyes, maybe we sometimes see a sudden change in the color of something, or a change in shape. When there are chemical changes, some particles no longer return to their former situation. Let's talk about some of these chemical reactions.

Rusting on iron materials : We often see brown coating falling mainly on iron and some other metal materials. That is because reactions happen for water vapor and oxygen on the surface of iron. Iron combines with oxygen (O2) and produces ferric oxide (Fe2O3). It is a chemical change caused by oxidation. As a result, the iron content becomes more brittle than before. Less active metal coating can be applied on any iron material by electroplating to avoid rusting.

Dirt Cleaning With Soap or Detergent : Soap is made by fatty acids (R-COOH) and caustic soda (NaOH).  Soap molecules have two parts, one part is hydrophilic, which attracts water molecules, the other part is hydrophobic, it repels water molecules. The hydrophilic part is stuck with water molecules and the hydrophobic part is stuck with the dirt molecules. As a result, the dirt is cleaned by repeated washing with soap. The same thing happens with detergents.  However, detergents contain some other chemicals that are ultimately effective for washing clothes.

Chemical Reactions Which Enter During Digestion : Every day a lot of chemical reactions get involved in the digestive system of any animal, through which the process of digestion is completed. When we eat something, after the food reaches the stomach, the enzyme and water breaks the particles of carbohydrate into the smallest simple particles so that our body is able to absorb it. When we eat some protein, some other enzymes and hydrochloric acid break down the protein molecules into simple molecules. This is how our digestion process is completed.

While Lighting a candle : When we lit a candle, we only can see solid wax being transformed into liquid wax. But do you know inside this, a chemical reaction happens. Wax contains hydrocarbons which react with oxygen in the air during combustion and form carbon dioxide and water vapor. It also produces heat and light energy at the same time. That's why we see the maximum wax of a candle disappear into the air.
