Thanks to its trailer and songs (especially "Tauba Tauba"), 'Bad Newz' had created quite a stir in the media even before its release and was expected to perform well. But man, little did we know that the film would emerge as a surprise package for the box office! On its opening day, the Vicky Kaushal-starrer romantic comedy collected ₹8.5 crores, which is huge considering its moderate budget. And the bonus here is thatit’s the biggest opener for Kaushal as a lead actor, surpassing even his 2018 blockbuster 'Uri: The Surgical Strike'. Not only that; the amount is more than most of the other Bollywood releases’ so far this year, including 'Article 370', 'Chandu Champion', 'Maidaan', and 'Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya'.
