Year Ender 2025: Bowlers Who Scalped the Maximum Wickets in This Year’s Edition

Although bowlers failed to contain their economies, they did manage to pick several wickets

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 was undoubtedly a batters’ paradise, with several players scoring big runs at a blistering pace, because of which teams often scored 200 runs and above. In short, bowlers did not have much say throughout the tournament as they got hit right, left, and centre. However, some bowlers managed several wickets, making them the top bowlers of the 2025 edition.

In this year-end sports article, let us check out bowlers who scalped the maximum number of wickets in IPL 2025.

This year’s Purple Cap winner was the Gujarat Titans’ M Prasidh Krishna for his 25 wickets in 15 matches. Krishna registered a best figure of 4/41, which made him one of the few bowlers in the tourney to have a four-wicket haul. Unfortunately, he registered an economy of 8.27.

Second on the list is Chennai Super Kings’ Noor Ahmad. In 14 games, Ahmad grabbed 24 wickets with a best figure of 4/18 but a poor economy of 8.16. However, he is one of three bowlers in the 2025 edition to have grabbed two four-wicket hauls.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s Josh Hazlewood is the bowler with the third-most wickets grabbed in the 2025 season of the IPL. With 22 wickets in 12 matches, he is one of the reasons behind Bengaluru’s first truly successful season that saw them lift their maiden IPL trophy since 2008. Hazlewood registered a best figure of 4/33 and an economy of 8.77.

In the final against Bengaluru, he picked up three wickets but, unfortunately, could not turn the game in Punjab Kings’ favour.

Jasprit Bumrah

In our book of thoughts, Jasprit Bumrah deserves a place in this article despite not finishing in the top five. The reason is that Bumrah took 18 wickets in 12 matches, with a best of 4/22. However, the highlight of his performance was his economy of 6.67. In a season where all the top wicket takers gave away over eight runs in every over, Bumrah’s economy proves why he is considered one of the best in the world at present.
