Beat the heat, boost your goals!
Summer in India can be draining. From rising temperatures to unpredictable humidity, fatigue can disrupt your schedules even for the most disciplined ones. Whether you’re a student, a working professional, or a home-maker, staying productive during this hot season is a real challenge. But worry not - we are here with a personalised guide to managing time, setting goals, and achieving more with less effort—all while keeping yourself cool.
Believe it or not, excessive heat, frequent power cuts, vacations, and other distractions makes us all a bit sluggish. Add mangoes and IPL season, and your to-do list may not stand a chance!
Common productivity pitfalls include unstructured summer holidays for kids, sleepiness from extreme heat or humidity, lack of motivation due to heat stress. That’s why you need smart planning, daily tracking, and flexibility to be more productive.
Specific. Measurable. Achievable. Relevant. Time-bound.
Whether you want to complete an online course, improve fitness, or grow your entrepreneurial venture—start with clear, realistic goals.
For better results, prepare a “Summer Goal Jar” and write 3–5 major goals on paper. Create one every week and make it your focus!
Instead of endless checklists, divide your whole day into multiple time blocks as follows:
Morning Cool Hour (6 am–9 am): Brain work, exercise, and writing.
Midday Light Hour (1 pm–4 pm): Admin work, learning, indoor tasks.
Evening Energiser (6 pm–8 pm): Hobbies, family, and side projects.
Use your ambience to enhance productivity. Work near windows and use light-coloured curtains, and invest in a good desk fan. Avoid working in bed or under direct sunlight. Play your energy-building music before working.
Drink nimbu paani, coconut water, or buttermilk along with water as dehydration leads to drowsiness. Don't forget to keep a water bottle at your working desk and finish it every 2-3 hours.
There are numerous available to plan and track goals, stay away from distractions, and easy time-blocking. Use them smartly.
Work at a stretch for 25 minutes and take 5-minute breaks (Pomodoro Technique). During break, stretch yourself, splash some cold water on your face, or walk barefoot on your terrace—whatever makes you feel refreshed.
Use colour-coded sticky notes for professional and personal works, keep inspirational quotes posters (like “Kaam se karenge dosti!”) in your room. Don't forget to prepare a weekly “rewards” column. This is a great motivation for improving productivity. After a week of high productivity, reward yourself with your favourite ice cream or meal. You can also reward yourself by buying that item kept for months in the wishlist.
Don't let the summer season slow you down. A well-designed summer productivity planner isn't about being busy—it's about being efficient and focused.
