Registration for PM Internship Scheme 2024 Begins: Check Important Dates, Stipend & Eligibility Criteria

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has started the registration process for the PM Internship Scheme 2024.

The Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced PM Internship Scheme (PMIS) in this year's union budget with an aim of addressing youth unemployment by connecting job aspirants with organizations seeking talent. In this article, we will discuss about eligibility criteria, important dates, stipend details and application process.

Eligibility Criteria:

The candidates must have qualifying certificate from High School, Higher Secondary School, an ITI, or diploma from a Polytechnic Institute. Graduates with the degree certificate from BA, B.Sc, B.Com, BCA, BBA, B.Pharma courses are also eligible.

Only Indian candidates aged between 21 to 24 years can apply for this internship. The candidates should not be employed full-time in any organization during the application and internship. Also, they should not be involved in full-time education courses. The internship will last for 12 months. The candidates should be committed enough to spend at least half of the period or 6 months in the actual working area or job environment.

Stipend:

The selected candidates will receive a stipend of Rs. 5000/- as a monthly assistant during the entire tenure of 12 months. Out of the total stipend, the organization will pay Rs. 500/- to each intern from the Company's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds, and the government will pay the rest of Rs. 4500/-.

Application Procedure:

After clicking on the register link, a new page will open for filling out the registration details.  Based on the information provided by the applicant, a resume will be created by the portal. Now, the candidates will get upto 5 internship opportunities based on preferences like location, sector, functional role and qualifications. Once filling out the details, candidates will be asked to click on the submit button to download the confirmation page. It is suggested to always keep a hard copy of the application for further requirement.

Required Documents:

During application, the candidates need to provide Aadhaar card details, relevant educational certificates, recent passport-size photograph and a self-declaration for other requirements.

Application Rejection Criteria:

If any candidate is participating in any government-funded skill development or training program, he/she will be subjected to rejection. Also, the annual income of applicant’s family must not exceeds Rs. 8 lakh in the fiscal year 2023-2024. The applicant’s immediate family members should not be a permanent or regular employees of the central, state, or local government, PSUs, or other government organizations.

Application Deadline:

The registration link for the PMIS will remain open till October 25 (Saturday), 5.00 PM.

"The portal ensures efficient access to internships across sectors with Aadhaar-based registration and tools like bio-data generation," the ministry had said. Meanwhile, the overall cost of the PMIS’s pilot project is projected at Rs. 800 crore. The internship will start from December 2, 2024.

As per the vision set by government, in upcoming five years, over one crore candidates will be receiving internship opportunities from top 500 national and international companies. On the first day of registration, 1,55,109 candidates have registered on the PMIS portal.
