Reel to real: Movies that predicted the future.

When reel life stories and technology became eerily became real. Movies are medium to tell us stories, stories that are interesting, fascinating and engaging. These stories make us dream and question many what if? But what if, sometimes, these stories were narrating a tale about the future unknowingly? The things we believe are a fragment of our imagination can turn up as the reality of tomorrow. Here are some of the movies that predicted future technology, future trends, and sometimes quite eerily, future events. Super Mario Bros. Everyone’s all-time favourite classic Nintendo game was adapted into a movie in the year 1993. Even though everyone had high expectation from the movie, it bombed at the boxoffice. But that is not the only thing it is remembered for. The movie is remembered for a scene that eerily predicted a catastrophic event in the future, 9/11 and the demolition of the twin trade towers. The scene showed damaged and destroyed twin towers eight years before the tragic event occurred. The Truman Show. One of the sweeper hits of the year 1998. The movie predicted the grim reality of the future television audience, who are obsessed with how real people go about their everyday life. The Truman Show, though was a commentary on privacy, but who knew the makers accurately predicted the current trend where people would binge on shows such as “The Bachelor”, “Big Boss”, and “Keeping up with the Kardashians”. You’ve got Mail. Another movie in the year 1998 predicted a popular trend accurately. The protagonists in the movie meet in AOL messenger and develop a bond with one another. This accurately predicted how in future when would have our meet-cute. And here we are 22 years later, finding love on dating apps such as Tinder and OkCupid. 2001: A Space Odyssey. The futuristic movie predicted many future technologies correctly, such as AI. Themovie talked about the possibility of video calling and AI that would follow our instructions verbally. One more thing about the iconic movie is that it predicted space travel which may not be true right now. But we all know that Elon Musk and Richard Branson are working to make this fantasy a reality. The Cable Guy. No one predicted technology as accurately as “The Cable Guy”. There is literally a scene where Jim Carrey flawlessly predicts the future by adding that soon phone, computer and television would merge together, and we would be able to play games, watch television and even chat with people all across the world at the same time. So, what other movies predicted the future accurately.
