"GPT-4o would not have happened without the vision, talent, conviction, and determination of Prafulla Dhariwal over a long period of time." - Sam Altman
OpenAI's latest AI model, GPT-4o, has been the talk of the town ever since its launch. And now we know that there's an Indian mind in its development. Yes, the company's CEO Sam Altman recently credited Prafulla Dhariwal, an Indian research scientist based in San Francisco, for his pivotal role in GPT-4o's creation.
Notably, Dhariwal works at OpenAI and spearheads the Omni Project there. "GPT-4o (o for “omni”) is the first model to come out of the omni team, OpenAI’s first natively fully multimodal model. This launch was a huge org-wide effort, but I’d like to give a shout-out to a few of my awesome team members who made this magical model even possible," he wrote on the social media platform X. In reply, Altman tweeted that the project would not have been possible without Dhariwal's "vision, talent, conviction, and determination".
GPT-4o would not have happened without the vision, talent, conviction, and determination of @prafdhar over a long period of time. that (along with the work of many others) led to what i hope will turn out to be a revolution in how we use computers. https://t.co/f3TdQT03b0
