No one other than a millenial can relate! Have you recently felt out of place at work? Did you somehow offend someone without even knowing what you did? We hear you, you are the millennial facing work struggles daily! It is understandable that you might not be able to gel with everyone at work, this is a given! But feeling out of place at work might not be a good thing for the long term! Here are some millennial struggles, see if it feels like it happens to you all the time! Workplace attire: Formal dressing If you are a millennial who loves the jammies or the shorts, you know how hard it is to survive in formals for long hours at work. We have every right to feel comfortable, right? But guess what, not all of your colleagues feel the same. While millennials are comfortable working in casual clothing, some office etiquettes, actually most of them still stick to formal clothing and casual clothing is frowned upon. This is true for most offices actually. You may have friends who have the opportunity of coming to work in their casual clothing, but not you! Work hours: Still doing 9-5 Yeah, we know how boring 9-5 jobs can get at times. While discipline is not something that millennials frown upon, they love working in flexible hours throughout the day. This can be a session in the morning, or starting in the afternoon, or taking a break for a few hours in the middle of work sessions. You will often find millennials looking for work from home opportunities with flexible hours, just because they like to work at their own pace. Untold work ethics: Mingling There are some untold work ethics, like spending some quality time with your colleagues. Are you up for that? No? OKay, there’s no harm in this as long as you don’t offend someone. Millennials love their own workspace, having the peace of mind without any formal obligation of mingling with the crowd is something they admire. This is true for most millennials if not all. Don’t worry buddy, you are not alone! Gossip: A big no-no Millennials are laughed at often for their carelessness, and causal behaviour! But that’s just a one-sided opinion. Recent studies suggest that millennials are actually prone to have less gossiping tendencies as they feel more fulfilled with the activities they carry out in their own time.
