India is set to take on Bangladesh at home for a two match Test series as part of the World Test Championship. For the record, India last played a Test series against Bangladesh in 2022, and both matches ended in India’s favour as multiple players rose to the occasion. Be it the bowlers or the batsmen, both categories of Indian players did their part to dismantle Bangladesh.

In the first Test, Shreyas Iyer, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Shubman Gill were undoubtedly the best of the lost. In the first innings, Pujara scored 90 runs in 203 balls, whereas Iyer added 86 runs, taking India’s score to 404.

Top bowlers
Kuldeep Yadav was the star bowler, picking five wickets in 16 overs at an economy of 2.50 overs. Yadav also played a crucial part with the bat, adding 40 runs while facing 114 balls. Even Ravichandran Ashwin, who was not effective with the ball, picking no wickets, scored 58 runs with the bat.

Top batsmen
In second innings, Shubman Gill delivered with the bat, hitting 110 runs in 152 balls with a strike rate of 72.36. Pujara continued his moment, scoring 102 runs in 130 balls at a strike rate of 78.46.
Top bowlers
When it comes to bowling in the second innings, Axar Patel was the showstopper with his four wickets at an economy of 2.38. Kuldeep followed with three more wickets. Other bowlers such as Mohammed Siraj, Umesh Yadav, and Ashwin picked one wicket each.
The match ended with India winning the games by 188 runs, whereas Kuldeep Yadav was awarded the Player of the Match award.

In the second game, Bangladesh batted first and managed only 227 runs. In response, Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer took a stance when other Indian batsmen struggled, failing to go past the 30-mark score. Pant valiantly spent 173 minutes on the pitch, scoring 93 runs in 104 balls, whereas Iyer added 87 runs in 105 balls.

Bangladesh succumbed to 227, thanks to the four-wicket each of Umesh Yadav and Ashwin. However, Yadav had a better economy of 1.66, giving away only 25 runs in 15 overs. The Test became a major milestone for Jaydev Unadkat who made a comeback in the Test format after a span of 12 years. Not to forget, it was also his only second Test, having made his Test debut in 2010.

Top batsmen
In the second innings, Bangladesh scored 231 runs, and in response, India scored 145 by losing seven wickets. While all the batsmen failed, it was Axar Patel who scored 34 runs, and Ashwin added 42 runs. Another 29 runs were scored by Shreyas Iyer.

Similar to the second inning of the first game, Axar Patel displayed his prowess by taking three wickets, the highest among Indian bowlers. Ashwin and Siraj took two wickets each and wrapped up the game for India.
India won the game by three wickets, and Ashwin grabbed the Player of the Match award for his six wickets and crucial 42 runs.
